Taking a look at the College Football Playoff
In the First Round of the College Football Playoff we saw the
12th see James Madison Dukes lose to the 5th seed Oregon Ducks 51-34
9th seed Alabama Crimson Tide beat the 8th seed Oklahoma Sooners 34-24 despite falling down 17-0 in the 2nd quarter
11 seed Tulane Green Wave lost to the 6th seed Ole Miss Rebels 41-10 in a game that was never competitive
And the 10th seed Miami Hurricanes win a defensive slugfest 10-3 against the Texas A&M Aggies
Now in the 2nd round we have
The 5th ranked Oregon Ducks taking on the 4th seed Big 12 Champion Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Capitol One Orange Bowl.
The 9th seed Alabama Crimson Tide taking on the 1 seed Big 10 Champion Indiana Hoosiers in the Iconic Rose Bowl
The 6th seed Ole Miss Rebels taking on the 3rd seed SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs in the All State Sugar Bowl
and last but not least the 10th seed Miami Hurricanes taking on the the 2nd seed and Reigning National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
Looking back at the Playoff does this force a change in the playoff standard? With Tulane and James Madison losing in deciding fashion will this force the committee to get rid of the Conference Champion autobids? If Notre Dame and BYU would have gotten into the playoff I believe that there would have been better games. The recruiting with NIL is not there for a smaller school to compete with the giants in college football. Ohio State is likely paying one player more than the entire NIL Budget for Tulane and James Madison.
THE BARNYARD PICKS
The 5th seed Oregon Ducks will beat the 4th seed Texas Tech Red Raiders 34-20
The 1 seed Indiana Hoosiers with Heisman Trophy Winner Fernando Mendoza will beat the Alabama Crimson tide 27-10
its a rematch between the 6th seed Ole Miss Rebels and 3rd seed Georgia Bulldogs. Ole Miss couldn’t beat Georgia with Lane Kiffin, I don’t see this game being any closer with Pete Golding. Give me Georgia 45-28
the 2nd seed Ohio State Buckeyes are 9.5 point favorites over the 10th seed Miami Hurricanes. I am not a big believer in Carson Beck or Julian Sayin. A lot of people would say it’s crazy to go against the reigning national champions but im going to do it. Give me the Hurricanes pulling off the upset and win 17-10
